I started a new section in my monthly newsletter. It is called: Ask Nancy. It has become very popular. People send me a question and each month, in my newsletter, I answer one of them.
This month’s question is:
What is the best, natural thing to take for constipation?
Answer:
Food wise, the best thing for constipation is the juice from watermelon rind – a juicer is required. (A powerful blender will work, but you will have to strain the mixture or drink it with all of the fiber.)
Pick a watermelon with a lot of deep color (rich in anti-oxidants). Wash the watermelon really well, cut the rind off and juice away! Add a pinch of whole sea salt to the mixture for added minerals. The watermelon is full of natural electrolytes and the salt will help you absorb the hydrating waters from the juice, and become better hydrated without pulling minerals from your body. Drink this mixture and walk around, or get some sort of body movement.
For diabetics or anyone worried about high blood sugar, adding some juice from fresh stringbeans will make the drink less sugary, reducing the blood sugar impact.”One cup of stringbean skin is equal to at least one unit of insulin.” (1)
I have made this mixture for people and their system starts moving pretty quickly. They were thrilled with the results.
Recipe:
· 2 cups watermelon juice (from rind)
· 1 pinch of whole sea salt
Addition for diabetics
1/2 cup whole stringbean juice (from fresh string beans)
